Labor Day brings back memories of new school books, knapsacks and sharpened pencils. Some of us are sending children back to school this Labor Day and starting to think about our own career advancement. It’s easy to get caught up in the September excitement and try to do too many things at once, so we’ve compiled some tips for getting through this time with a smile on your face.

Buy school supplies, uniforms and whatever else your kids need as early as possible. The later you leave it, the fewer choices you’ll find on the shelves and the more time-consuming your shopping will be.
Check your work schedule against the back to school activities. If your kids are getting out of school early or being dropped off late, make sure you have arrangements in place in advance so you aren’t stressed at the last minute. If you have flexibility in choosing your shifts, schedule work when most convenient for your family.
Get your kids into a routine before school starts. You don’t want to be dragging tired children out of bed when you need to be leaving for work. Move bedtime back a bit every night until you get back to the school-time sleep schedule.
Even the best-laid plans sometimes go wrong. Besides the usual childcare arrangements, it’s a good idea to have a family member, neighbor or friend as back-up in case their help is needed. You’ll be able to complete your shifts calmly knowing that your children are being taken care of and all eventualities are covered.
If you’ve been putting off starting or going back to work because your children were home, now is the time to apply for work. Towne Nursing is currently hiring CNAs, LPNs and RNs in the tristate area. We will be happy to receive and process your application in the coming days.
